CISF, ICAR and Tripura received the award for the best Tableau in Republic Day Parade

• Defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman presented the First Prize to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its representation of Tableau on ‘Kisan Gandhi’ with the theme :“Mishrit Kheti, Khushiyon Ki Kheti” under the central ministries and departments category.
• Tripura bagged the best state tableau for its float based on the theme of ‘Empowering Rural Economy the Gandhian Way’ 
• The CISF’s float was based on the theme ‘Securing National Assets – 50 Glorious Years’

Former defence minister George Fernandes passed away

• Former defence minister Geroge Fernandes breath his last due to prolonged illness of Alzhemier’s disease.He passed away at the age of 88.
• During his regime as the Defence Minister in Atal Bihari Govt,Fernandes oversaw the Pokhran nuclear tests of 1998 and the Kargil war in 1999.
